TxDOT selects Grant Cooper for Executive Director Search
TxDOT has approximately 11,700 employees (authorized to have 12,203), is headquartered in Austin, and is made up of 21 divisions and 6 offices. Four regional support centers provide operational and project delivery support for the agency's 25 geographical districts. TxDOT is responsible for approximately 80,000 center lane miles of roadway and more than 51,000 bridges, with primary funding from traditional sources such as gas tax revenues, vehicle registration fee revenues, federal reimbursements and local participation. TxDOT has also received funding from non-traditional sources such as bond proceeds and the federal stimulus programs. The FY 2011 budget approximates $8.8 billion.
